Fussball Server rounds up the latest transfer talk for Liverpool on Friday, September 4.
The summer transfer window has now begun, with rumours and speculation continuing to swirl as Liverpool eye possible reinforcements.
Jurgen Klopp’s champions have not been particularly busy during recent windows, but that has not stopped the rumour mill from linking them with additions.
Here, Fussball Server rounds up the latest news on possible comings and goings from Anfield.
Friday morning’s Liverpool transfer talk news roundup:
Bayern Munich ‘invite Manchester United offer for Liverpool-linked Thiago’
Bayern Munich have reportedly invited Manchester United to make an offer for Spanish midfielder Thiago Alcantara during this summer’s transfer window.
The 29-year-old – out of contract next June – is widely expected to leave the Allianz Arena in the coming weeks, and Liverpool have been strongly linked with a move.
A recent report claimed that United had also opened discussions with the midfielder’s representatives to determine whether an agreement could be reached.
According to ESPN, the Red Devils have now been invited by Bayern to enter the bidding as the treble winners want to drive up the Spaniard’s price.
Thiago is believed to be valued by Hansi Flick’s side at £27m, but Liverpool have allegedly thus far refused to meet the German team’s asking price.
The former Barcelona youngster contributed three goals and two assists in 40 outings at club level last term.
Georginio Wijnaldum addresses Barcelona speculation
Liverpool midfielder Georginio Wijnaldum has branded suggestions that he has already agreed a move to Barcelona this summer “only rumours”.
The 29-year-old’s contract with the Premier League champions is due to expire next summer, and the speculation linking him with a move away from Anfield continues to gather pace.
A recent report claimed that Wijnaldum had agreed personal terms with Barca, who could sign him for as little as £13m during this summer’s transfer window due to his contract situation.
However, when quizzed on his future and a possible switch to Camp Nou, the Netherlands international told reporters: “They are only rumours. At the moment I can’t say anything.”
Wijnaldum, who scored six times in 47 appearances for the Reds during the 2019-20 campaign, is allegedly viewed by new Barca boss Ronald Koeman as a key part of the club’s rebuild.
Lionel Messi, meanwhile, is said to be considering making a U-turn on his decision to leave Camp Nou.
