Frank Lampard is reportedly prepared to hand the captain’s armband to Thiago Silva if he completes a switch to Chelsea.
After a successful eight-year period at Paris Saint-Germain, Silva is expected to depart Parc des Princes on a free transfer over the coming days.
With it being claimed that the 35-year-old is due to have a medical with Chelsea on Thursday, a switch to Stamford Bridge appears to be in the offing.
According to Globo, Lampard is prepared to get a deal over the line by handing Silva the opportunity to replace Cesar Azpilicueta as club captain.
Jorginho‘s potential exit from the Premier League giants will free up an opening for the Brazilian to be named as skipper or as deputy to Azpilicueta.
Silva has won eight league titles since his permanent switch to Europe in 2009, seven of which have come during his time at PSG.
